Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a technique used in medicine for producing images of tissues inside the body through the use of a large magnet, devices for transmitting and receiving radio waves and a computer.
MRI is an important diagnostic tool because it enables physicians to identify abnormal tissue without surgery. It also does not expose the patient to radiation, unlike tests that use x-rays.
MRI exams can be performed at St. James Healthcare, or at our Out Patient facility, Southwest Montana Radiology.
Exams at both facilities can be scheduled by calling the main scheduling office 406-723-2950.
