Evaluation
An initial evaluation is conducted by a St. James Healthcare rehabilitation specialist. The evaluation includes a medical history review, blood pressure and heart rate assessment, developing an exercise prescription and defining program goals.
Orientation
The client is oriented to the various pieces of aerobic and strength training equipment.
Supervision
The program is supervised and updated by the St. James rehabilitation specialist. Clients will learn how to record and monitor their progress and develop the skills to exercise independently.
Progress
A progress report will periodically be sent to the client's physician. A change in a client's symptoms or medical status will also be reported to their physician.
Getting Started
Clients will go through the initial assessment to determine the level of exercise necessary for desired goals.

Group Classes—Buddy Up
Exercise with other members to make the time go faster.
Program Goals
- To maintain or improve optimal physical and emotional health of the participants.
- To enhance the quality of life for individuals in Butte and surrounding communities.
- To delay the onset or recurrence of symptoms through exercise and education.
The Medical Exercise Program is offered to you through a cooperative agreement between the Butte Family YMCA Family Fitness Center and the St. James Healthcare Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. This program is located at the Family Fitness Center and is designed to help those that will benefit from close supervision by qualified personnel. Client's progress will be reported to their physician.
