To schedule an appointment for consultation, please call Radiation Oncology at 406-723-2621. Consultations are scheduled between the hours of 8:30 am. and 2:30 pm., Monday through Friday. Please allow 1 to 2 hours for your initial appointment and bring all requested medical records with you, in order to obtain the maximum benefit from your consultation. When scheduling your appointment, our staff will ask that you bring these records with you if you received prior care at a medical center other than St. James Healthcare. Your other physicians are often consulted and kept informed of your progress at all times.
Before you can begin treatment, a clinical consultation and evaluation must be scheduled with your radiation oncologist. This specialist participates in your cancer care in coordination with other physicians and medical professionals. During the consultation, the radiation oncologist will review your medical history and test results, as well as perform a physical examination. At that time, he may feel that additional tests are needed and will discuss them with you.
If the radiation oncologist determines that you will benefit from a course of radiation therapy, a treatment plan will be presented to you during the consultation, based on the results of the evaluation.
Most insurance plans cover the cost of radiation therapy. If you have any questions, please contact your medical insurance provider or our department.
