Founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, St. James Healthcare has been serving patients throughout the region for over 120 years. Today, St. James Healthcare maintains a high level of dedication to patients, physicians, and other health care providers throughout Southwest Montana and beyond. Clients throughout Montana are welcome.

The laboratory at St. James Healthcare provides locally-based, rapid response testing around the clock, from its state-of-the-art facility in Butte. The laboratory is CAP and JCAHO accredited, as well as being accredited by the State of Montana and CMS.  Through the extensive test menu offered, clients have access to the highest levels of clinical and anatomic laboratory service and expertise.

Designed to meet your needs

STAT Testing

St. James Healthcare offers stat testing. When a test is ordered stat, the laboratory staff responds immediately, interrupting normal testing protocols to perform the stat test(s). STAT orders are assumed to stem from a life-threatening situation. Please order stat testing for appropriate situations only.

Critical Values

Specific tests are designated with "critical values." When results for such tests qualify as "critical" values, the appropriate physician or designated representative is phoned immediately.

Patient Reports

Laboratory reports are delivered according to the needs of the client. Options include: office printers, fax, mail, and courier delivery.

Specimen Collection

Patients can access specimen collection services at the Patient Service Center in the St. James Healthcare Main Lobby Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. On weekends, holiday and after hours, patients should go to the Emergency Services admission desk.
