St. James Healthcare's Rehab Services offers caring, personal, professional attention, state-of-the-art techniques and equipment, and personalized treatment programs.
Our Physical Therapy team specializes in assessing and treating a variety of injuries and illness, including back and neck problems, sports-related injuries, arthritis problems, stroke-related problems, head injury, and problems related to prolonged illness. We teach patients how to take care of themselves by showing them how to use their bodies properly, gain strength and mobility, and prevent recurring injuries. We advise on proper posture and body motion in the work place. We also consult on fitness, and administer physical therapy in the home. We provide help for every part of the body, and provide advice for everyone, from infants to the elderly.
The Occupational Therapy team specializes in rehabilitation to recover from strokes, arthritic deficits, and injuries to elbow, wrist and hand. Other individuals who may benefit from Occupational Therapy include those recovering from surgery, head injury, and problems related to prolonged illness. We work with all age groups to assist in regaining functional independence in performing daily activities such as eating, dressing and growing functions, In addition, ergonomic/worksite/home evaluations are available for injury prevention.
Speech Therapy provides treatment of language, speech and swallowing disorders following stroke, surgery, head injury, and prolonged illness. Other individuals who may benefit from Speech Therapy include persons with developmental delays such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, and pervasive development disorder. Intervention can include instruction in oral motor skills, spoken language, sign language, writing, and the use of computerized communication devices.
